忍耐力と情熱

仕事への情熱
自分がやっていることに強い情熱を持てとよく言われるが、まったくそのとおりだ。なぜなら、（価値あるものをつくり出すのは）とても大変なことだから、情熱を持っていないと普通の人間なら続かない。本当にきついことなんだよ。最後まで、長い間やり続けなきゃいけない。
だから、もし本当に好きなことでないなら、もしやっていて楽しいと思えないなら、その人は途中であきらめてしまうだろう。たいていの人はそうなる。
世間的に成功した人とそうでない人を実際に見てみると、成功した人の多くは自分がやることを愛せた人だ。だから、本当につらい時も耐えることができた。自分がやることを愛せなかった人は途中でやめたんだ。
普通の人間ならそうなるだろ？好きでもないことを誰が耐え続けようなんて思う？
きつい作業がたくさんあるし、心配事が絶えないから、本当に好きじゃなきゃ失敗することになる。

People say you have to have a lot of passion for what you’re doing and it’s totally true.And the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t, any rational person would give up. It’s really hard. And you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don’t love it, if you’re not having fun doing it, you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up. And that’s what happens to most people, actually.If you really look at the ones that ended up being “successful” in the eyes of the society and the ones that didn’t, oftentimes it’s the ones [who] were successful loved what they did, so they could persevere when it got really tough. And the ones that didn’t love it quit because they’re sane, right? Who would want to put up with this stuff if you don’tlove it?
